With production that borders on demo quality, it’s surprising to see that both of Cóndor’s releases are full-lengths. This is a bold move for a band in their infancy, and it would seem that the Colombians have bitten off more than they can chew. Their lukewarm death-doom hybrid has some interesting compositions; however, the five-piece are lacking the dexterity to tackle 11-minute epics. Cóndor still have a long path to follow before their musicianship is polished enough to master the kind of sound they’re aiming for. For now they are better off honing their craft with demos and EPs.
