Iron Fist Magazine

Louise started Iron Fist in 2012 along with Will Palmer. She'd previously edited Terrorizer and would gladly never listen to a grindcore band again in her life. She's happiest when doing '80s Heart songs at karaoke, especially after a bottle of Baileys.

PLAY AND RECORD: THE KING FOWLEY/OCTOBER 31 MIXTAPE

We’ve been enjoying our recent C90 series. Okay, fair enough, it’s hardly original. What music magazine has not, in one form or another, asked musicians to create a playlist of bands rarely off their turntables? It’s a classic and we have no shame. But this one is especially exciting as it’s … Read More

Spitting black fire since 2000, Vornth have followed their self-titled 2013 debut with a second album of Venom-ous filth. ‘Black Pyres’ is out today as a Samhain offering, with lashings of Teutonic thrash fury, blackened ire and traditional heavy metal speed. BIG TEASER: STREAM THE NEW BLACK SABBATH COVER FROM UNIFORM

NYC noise duo Uniform have gotten into the Halloween spirit by trick or treating (depending on where you stand on their take on the Gods) us with a cover of Sabbath’s ‘Symptom Of The Universe’. PLAY AND RECORD: THE LEIF EDLING MIXTAPE

Leif’s a busy guy. Which is surprising since he promised us all he needed a break from his main vehicle of doom, Candlemass. While he’s stepped away from performing with the three-decade-old gloom godfathers, he still had time to record an EP with them this year (‘Death Thy Lover’, Napalm … Read More

ADMIRAL SIR CLOUDESLEY SHOVELL – KEEP IT GREASY!

Psychedelic is a word bandied about in so many press releases and reviews of late. It’s the go-to descriptor for any music that even hints at a pre-1983 inspiration. Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell are not psychedelic. They have no truck with your middle class drugs. They are a strictly pint … Read More

REVEAL – FLYSTRIPS

The wolves of Uppsala have not howled of late; a few years ago there was an unrequited frenzy where anything this secretive sect of friends produced was hailed as cult metal gold. It all but seemed that they batted off the unwanted attention and scuttled back to their batcaves and … Read More

ETERNAL CHAMPION – ARMOR OF IRE

It will be no shock to those who know the tastes of our editor, that Eternal Champion’s ‘Armor Of Ire’ has been on repeat. It’s a tick-box of heavy metal delights. But why? After much deliberation, it was decided that we would try and scientifically dissect why a debut album, … Read More

OATHBREAKER – RHEIA

Last week saw a presidential candidate casually rebutting anger over his sexual provocation as “locker room talk” and renowned human rights lawyer Amal Clooney was reported to have “had a tantrum” in court. It is becoming ever clearer that women are still made to feel invisible and disenfranchised when it … Read More

11 PARANOIAS – RELIQUARY FOR A DREAMED OF WORLD

Ever since a Swiss scientist wondered what what happen if he ate this chemical compound he was working on back in 1943, musicians have been imbibing Lyserg-säure-diäthylamid and recording its effects sonically to tape. 11 Paranoias don’t write pretty songs about pretty colours though. ‘Reliquary For A Dreamed Of … Read More
